REFRESHED: Debbie claimed Strictly has made her feel better after losing her husband last year
The TV favourite, 59, hit rock bottom after husband Paul died in March last year.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: “When Paul died I just completely lost my sparkle. I laughed but I wasn’t happy.
"I could never have done Strictly last year. I was still very upset and feeling much weaker as a person.
“But I’ve gone through 18 months of grief now. I did some other jobs that slowly got me back to being Debbie and now I feel much better.”

Debbie’s confidence has soared since she started competing on Strictly in September.
She added: “It came at the right time. Strictly has given me back the feeling of being happy. It’s given me my strength as a person back.
“It’s really brought a sparkle back into my life. It’s just an incredible uplift. I know Paul would have loved how well I’m doing.
“He’d always wanted me to do Strictly, so he’d love the fact that I’m doing it and doing so well.”

FAVOURITE: Debbie has become a favourite on the show with her dance partner Giovanni Pernice
Debbie has had messages from other women who have lost their husbands and added: “People are saying, ‘We’d been sitting at home crying but now we’ve realised life goes on and we’ve started going to the gym’.”

HEARTBROKEN: Debbie's husband Paul Daniels died in March last year
Debbie and pro partner Giovanni Pernice have topped the leader board more than any other couple so far this series but Debbie said: “Anyone can be in that dance-off – we never take anything for granted."
